Top Chef Canada alum Curtis Luk and sommelier and ex-Fable general manager Chase Macleod have teamed up to open Mission, their first restaurant, in Kitsilano.

The pair has recently taken over the 2,500 square-foot space at 2042 West 4th Avenue. Following the farm-to-table trend that seems to be taking over the city, the menu offerings at Mission use fresh, local ingredients.

But Luk and Macleod bring something different to Vancouver's food scene with their selection of seasonal tasting menus and optional wine pairings.

Available in a four-course option ($45) or a six-course option ($65), Mission offers two tasting menus. Both options feature plenty of local ingredients, with the regular menu featuring wild salmon and sorrel, duck, and oysters with bitter greens.

Speaking to Luk’s experience at formerly vegetarian favourite, the Parker, Mission also offers a vegetarian tasting menu, which features textured potatoes and foraged mushrooms, pea and turnip tarts, and cauliflower porridge. Both menus include the option of farmhouse cheese or goat milk ice cream as a final course.

The à la carte options include a sidestrip shrimp cocktail and daily selections of breads, cheeses, and desserts.

Justin Darnes, former bartender at London's Savoy Hotel and Pidgin in Gastown, joins the team as lead barman with his list of house-made cocktails.

Mission is open for dinner every night except Tuesday.

      the farm-to-table trend ??

What trend - this so-called "trend" has been a staple of the Vancouver dining scene for a years. Maybe you forgot about one of the OG gods of farm to table John Bishop.
