On July 30, 7:30 pm, Early Music Vancouver presents Henry Purcell's opera in concert Dido & Aeneas at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts (6265 Crescent Rd., UBC).

Based on ancient Roman author Virgil's classic epic The Aeneid, Dido & Aeneas tells the story of Queen Dido's doomed love for the Trojan hero Aeneas.

Presented as part of the Summer Festival, the Early Music Vancouver production features Toronto-based soprano Monica Whicher and baritone Sumner Thompson in the title roles.

Tickets for Dido & Aeneas start at $17.50 and can be bought online in advance.
