Organizers of the Vancouver Folk Music Festival offered an eclectic and lively lineup on the first day.

It included British music legend and former Fairport Convention member Richard Thompson, free-spirited singer-songwriter Frazey Ford, and the clever Vancouver band, Said The Whale.

The night concluded with a raucous set from the 26-piece Melbourne Ska Orchestra.
