The S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation says it raised more than $400,000 today with its annual Walk with the Dragon event at Lumberman's Arch.

There were more than 300 teams who went on a seven-kilometre stroll around the Stanley Park seawall.

Leading the procession were Premier Christy Clark and Defence Minister Jason Kenney, who doubles as the Conservative government's minister for multiculturalism.

The event began by waking up a symbolic 30-metre S.U.C.C.E.S.S. dragon that had been in hibernation for a year.

The money helps fund services provided by S.U.C.C.E.S.S., including a seniors care home, two assisted-living residences for seniors, and a multicultural early-childhood development program.
