Code It Forward hackathon to help 10 nonprofits in Vancouver
Vancouver's tech community is coming together to help local charities with a hackathon.
Code It Forward, being organized by Lighthouse Labs (300-128 West Hastings Street), will take place July 25 and 26.
The 36-hour coding event will see 50 "developers, designers, and ideators" gather to solve the technological problems faced by 10 nonprofits.
Aunt Leah's Place, B.C. Lung Association, Canucks Autism Network, HAVE Culinary Training Society, and The Lipstick Project are among the organizations "using inadequate, out-of-date systems, and as a result, aren't helping as many people as they could", according to the Code It Forward website.
On Picatic, Lighthouse Labs states:
Here's how you can make a difference: sign up as either a Developer, Designer or Ideator and listen as each non-profit presents its tech problem. Brainstorm with your team & solve the problem through a weekend-long codeathon! Participants will have complete access to the Lighthouse Labs space, a wonderful community of mentors and on-the-house meals during the course of the event!
Tickets (suggested donation: $10) are sold out, but there's a wait list.
