      The August concert lineup starts with Taylor Swift (above) at B.C. Place and ends with Janet Jackson at Rogers Arena, but there's oodles of gigs in between.

      And some festivals, too!

      AUGUST 1: American pop superstar Taylor Swift plays B.C. Place on her 1989 Tour, with guests Vance Joy and Shawn Mendes.

      AUGUST 1: the Electric Love Music Festival takes place in Agassiz, featuring over 100 electronic acts and DJs.

      AUGUST 1: Dust Radish, Chic Soirée, and Jenny Bana perform at North Vancouver's Cates Park as part of the Cates Park Concert Series.

      AUGUST 1: L.A. Americana band the Battlefield plays Joe's Apartment, with guests  Echo Nebraska, Coldwater Road, and Almost Bear.

      AUGUST 2: Oakland soul-R&B artist Kehlani (above) plays Alexander, with guest Pell.

      AUGUST 2: the Vancouver Adapted Music Society presents blues-roots act Stanton Paradis at the Backstage Lounge, with guests the Richard Quan Blues Band.

      AUGUST 3: Toronto punk band Metz plays the Rickshaw Theatre, touring in support of latest album Metz II.

      AUGUST 4: the Georgia Straight presents south Saharan soul band Tinariwen (above) at the Imperial. Note: moved from original venue of Vogue Theatre.

      AUGUST 4: American heavy-metal trio High On Fire plays the Rickshaw, with guests Pallbearer, Lucifer, and Venomous Maximus.

      AUGUST 4: Atlanta rapper Father plays Alexander, performing on his Awful Records tour.

      AUGUST 5: 13-piece band from Cuba band Maykel Blanco & Salsa Mayor makes its first-ever Vancouver appearance at Red Room Ultrabar.

      AUGUST 5: Canadian indie-rock band the Wooden Sky plays the Biltmore, touring in support of latest release Let's Be Ready.

      AUGUST 6: Chicago-based rapper Tink plays the Venue, touring in support of debut album ThinkTink.

      AUGUST 7: the three-day Squamish Valley Music Festival kicks off at the Squamish Logger Sports Grounds, featuring headliners Mumford & Sons, Drake, and Sam Smith.

      AUGUST 7: American soft-rock singer-songwriter and former Chicago member Peter Cetera plays the River Rock Show Theatre.

      AUGUST 7: Abba tribute band Abba Again plays New Westminster's Columbia Theatre.

      AUGUST 7: sitar player Mohamed Assani and tabla player Shahbaz Hussain perform the classical music of Northern India and Pakistan at the Fox Cabaret.

      AUGUST 8: the Burnaby Blues + Roots Festival takes place at Deer Lake Park, featuring Lee Fields & the Expressions, Ruthie Foster, and headliners the Sheepdogs.

      AUGUST 8: American metal artists Kip Winger and Daniel Nargang perform at the farewell show for J.J. Caithcart's Scrape Records store.
