The Georgia Straight proudly sponsors Hurray for the Riff Raff and Spirit Family Reunion

The Vancouver Folk Music Festival’s fall concert series continues with performances by Hurray for the Riff Raff, Spirit Family Reunion, and special guests the Deslondes at the Biltmore Cabaret (2755 Prince Edward Street) on Wednesday (October 9).

This triple-bill features the hottest young groups in Americana-roots music on their only Canadian tour stop. Hurray for the Riff Raff’s Alynda lee Segarra’s latest album Look Out Mama reflects everything from swamp pop, to classic country, to psychadelia, and surf-rock.

Meanwhile, Brooklyn’s Spirit Family Reunion calls its sound “open-door gospel”, rising up from singing on street corners and New York City subway stations. The Deslondes represent old country-blues, with a nod to honkytonk.
