The Georgia Straight presents the #Safefest all-ages music festival
Over 75 acts will play 13 venues over 4 days at the first annual #Safefest, an all-ages music festival for charity. All proceeds go to the Safe Amplification Society and The Music Tree to help raise money for the establishment of a permanent all-ages music venue.
The festival kicks off Thursday (October 10th), at Lana Lou’s. On Friday Music Waste and Exclaim! Magazine team up for a showcase at Chapel Arts with additional shows at the Prophouse and Simply Delicious. Saturday features daytime events with free shows at Red Cat Records and Neptoon.
Fortune Sound Club’s middle floor art gallery space will host an array of electronic acts with DJ, Ableton and breakdance workshops. Kozmik Zoo hosts a hip hop showcase and 604 Records presents the best of their acts including Fake Shark Real Zombie, while Astorinos features an 8 band lineup.
The closing date, Sunday Oct 13, features 8 bands at Astorinos and a 2-6 p.m. show at Chapel and a 8 p.m.-2 a.m. closing party with festival hosts BESTiE and the Boom Booms headlining. For full schedule visit the #Safefest website.
