Photos: Vancouver Pride parade 2015

Hundreds of thousands were lining the sidewalks of Vancouver's West End for the annual Pride parade.

After attending many of these celebrations over the years, I decided to spend some time today in the more shaded area along Thurlow Street.

It's because that's where many participants hang out before being escorted down onto Robson Street where the parade begins.

Below, you can see some snapshots I took at the start of the parade and in the waiting area.

There were plenty of New Democrats, but I didn't see any B.C. Liberals or federal Conservatives.

That's because they were prohibited from participating because they had refused to sign a pledge supporting passing a law explicitly guaranteeing equal rights for trans and gender-variant people.

Gender is no longer viewed through a binary lens.

There's a new queen in town indeed! I can't wait to support Constance Barnes and the NDP this election.
