Notes from Squamish Fest: Sometimes it pays to go green

Dear province of British Columbia: believe it or not this is not the subway line up in Tokyo at 5 p.m. on Friday.

And it's not the lineup for Pirates of the Caribbean in Disneyland in the middle of August.

Instead it's a five-mile-long lineup for the beer garden. It's time to get out of the 19th century when it comes to liquor laws.

On the positive side, Schoolboy Q is starting up, which means everyone will be abandoning the beer gardens anyway and firing up the roasters.

Sometimes it pays to go green.
