Vancouver Opera launches its 2013-14 season with Giacomo Puccini’s beloved opera, Tosca. Performances run at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre on October 26, 31, and November 1 to 3.

Tosca captures events that take place within 17 hours in 1800 Rome. The opera is filled with treachery, murder, and indestructible love, and promises thrills, drama, and beauty.

Vancouver Opera’s production will feature sopranos Michele Capalbo and Tamara Mancini sharing the lead role of Floria Tosca. This will mark both singers’ Vancouver Opera debut. Tosca’s lover, Cavaradossi, will be sung by tenors David Pomeroy and Adam Diegel, while the role of Baron Scarpia will be performed by Gordon Hawkins. Rounding out the cast are baritone Stephen Hegedus, Thomas Goerz, and Fédérik Robert.

Vancouver Opera’s music director Jonathan Darlington will lead the orchestra and Leslie Dala will lead the chorus. Tosca is directed by Joseph McClain.

Tickets to Tosca can be purchased online in advance or by phone at 604-683-0222.
