SeaWheeze half-marathon runners camp out and line up for Lululemon attire

SeaWheeze weekend officially kicked off at 8 a.m. this morning (August 14).

That’s when the Lululemon Athletica SeaWheeze store in Coal Harbour opened its doors to customers looking for stylish attire for this weekend’s half-marathon.

People camped out last night around the Convention Centre in anticipation of the product launch, which Lululemon markets as “exclusive special edition SeaWheeze run gear” that is “not available in any Lululemon stores”.

Those less enthusiastic for stretch pants might suggest spending the night on the streets is a lot of effort to put in for workout clothes. But it’s worth noting those people who camped out avoided the very long line that developed in the early hours of this morning.

According to a Lululemon press release, those who lined up numbered more than 4,000.

The first few people in looked like it was worth it for them.

SeaWheeze is a half marathon put on by Lululemon. It takes place on Saturday (August 15) and costs $128 to participate.

So hold up the paid $128 to not only run on public roads but also get access to exclusive clothing items? Talk about new slaves. Yeezy taught them well.

I'm surprised there's no Korean company with a 'Looloolemon' brand of yoga clothing.

Lined up at 8pm, and by 5am there was 600 people in line, by 6am there was 860+. Some things were already gone in the showcase store just 15 minutes after it opened. #lululeaddict #idrinkthelululemonade

Anna, some people pay $128 to run on public roads and wait for exclusive clothes (along with a lot of other stuff not mentioned). Others should take that $128 and put it toward upgrading their spelling, grammar and punctuation, namely, you.

      Consumerism at its finest (worst?)

I run a lot of races and find that I get the most for my money with this race. For that $128 I got: Lululemon shorts, cap, medal, runners bag, water bottle, coffee coupon, free gear check, gourmet runners brunch, 3 yoga classes with top instructors, manicure, Suki's hair braiding, cotton candy, yogurt bar, vega products, post race massage, several Saje products, Whistler water, Spud juice, sunset festival concert with 3 bands, trapeze try out, much race course entertainment to name a few. There is NO race that I know of that provides all of that. That's why this race sells out within minutes. The special edition runners store is just part of the appeal of this race.

....they get all that stuff for their $128. But they still had to buy the extra 'special' lulucrap and line up all night for it. That part wasn't free, I take it.

Lululemon annoys me in every way other than the two hoodies I own, both of which are 5-6 years old and still look great after lots of daily wear, many washes, etc. Their stuff is well made and the design is very pretty, have to give them that.
