The truth is out there, but what about the tunes? X-Files star David Duchovny plays Vancouver this weekend

You may have heard that The X-Files started shooting in Vancouver again, which means that costars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are back in town, and celebrity sightings abound.

But if you haven't managed to spot Duchovny at your local Starbucks yet, you can go see him performing live at Alexander in Gastown this Friday and Saturday (August 21 and 22).

The famed American actor recently added "rock star" to his resume—or singer-songwriter, anyway—and will be showcasing tunes from his debut album Hell or Highwater, which was released three months ago.

Here's a video of the title track:

Whoa. Okay, I'm no music critic—hang on a sec, yes I am—but doesn't that song resemble a mediocre Bob Dylan impression? Or the Wallflowers maybe? And aren't the lyrics kinda awkward?

I'm not saying I could do any better myself, but, you know, the truth is out there.

At any rate, if you enjoyed that tune and want to hear more, tickets for Duchovny's concert are on sale now for $24.50 (plus service charges and fees). Or for just $137.50 (plus service charges and fees) you can be part of a meet 'n' greet.

Just be ready to hold your breath in case Cigarette Smoking Man shows up backstage.
