The largest Glowbal restaurant to date has just opened at the new TELUS Garden (590 West Georgia Street). It joins the recently opened Nosh cafe and restaurant in TELUS Garden.

Glowbal is the flagship in the Glowbal Restaurant Group's chain of nine restaurants. The original Glowbal Grill Steaks & Satay in Yaletown closed at the end of last year, and the new 17,000 square-foot Glowbal officially launched in the TELUS complex on August 19.

With executive chef Pedro Gonzalez at the helm, the restaurant focuses on "stripped down North American cuisine". It features an open kitchen and a custom-built robata grill.

Menu items include favourites from other restaurants in the group, such as truffled spaghetti & signature meatballs. Other items include pastas, steaks, and miso-marinated sablefish; dinner entrees range from $16 to $55.

A raw bar with beef tartare and oysters on the half shell are also on offer, along with sustainably farmed caviar.

The open space was created by BOX Interior Design; there are also private rooms seating from 12 to 60 guests. The 150-seat patio features a "life-sized bird cage", according a news release.

Glowbal is open from 11 a.m. until late night daily.

Weekend brunch is slated to start in September. Happy hour runs daily from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. with $5 feature beer, wine and cocktails and half off the Cocktail Hour Menu.
