Video: Macklemore & Ryan Lewis make motor scooters hip in "Downtown"

Today, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis released the video for their latest song, "Downtown".

And with it, Seattle-born Macklemore might do for motor scooters what a former Seattle resident, Kurt Cobain, did for flannel shirts.

Oldtimers, of course, will claim that the Who beat Macklemore in this department.

They can point to the release of the film version of Quadrophenia, which featured no shortage of scooters.

Local music fans will recall that in 2013, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis brought the house down with their closing performance at the Squamish Valley Music Festival.

The next year, they joined Mary Lambert and Trombone Shorty at the Grammy Awards to perform "Same Love", which has become an anthem for equal rights. That occurred on the same night that 33 couples, including many same-sex pairs, were married.
