UBC and SFU: We're number two!
Every year, Maclean's puts out its university rankings issue, and the country's postsecondary institutions either crow about taking the top spots or ignore the results entirely.
Simon Fraser University won't be celebrating this year, as the University of Victoria has supplanted the Burnaby-based institution as the number one comprehensive university in Canada (well, according to Maclean's, anyways). SFU is now ranked number two. The University of Waterloo snagged third place.
In the medical doctoral category, the University of British Columbia maintained its 2nd place ranking. McGill University kept first place, and the University of Toronto held on to the 3rd spot.
The University of Northern British Columbia is tied for third place with the University of Lethbridge in the primarily undergraduate category. Mount Allison University topped the category, and Acadia University grabbed second place.
Maclean's says it uses 13 to 14 performance measures to rank the universities.
