Vancouver artists Laura Kinder and Sinclair Healy in running to have their designs on Canadian coins

      Imagine reaching into your purse or pocket and pulling out coins featuring your images.

      That's not a far-fetched possibility for Vancouver artists Laura Kinder and Sinclair Healy.

      They're among 25 finalists in a national competition to have their designs appear on Canadian coins.

      The Royal Canadian Mint is holding a contest called My Canada, My Inspiration to determine which images will be placed on our currency for the 150th anniversary of Confederation in 2017.

      Kinder and Healy made final cut from among nearly 10,000 designs that were submitted.

      They're art is in the Our Wonders category 

      Canadians can vote online for their favourites. The balloting closes on October 9 at 5 p.m.
