      Ok Miranda we get it we know you hate him solely because of his politically conservative evangelical leanings, because if this were say....the darling of Georgia Straight Tim Louis, well you would give him very forgiving free pass.

      ok: I'm pretty sure that if Tim Louis had done even one of the things that Ford has done he'd have already been forced to resign. Why are you willing to give Ford a free pass?

      Ok, ok;

      Solely because he's some nut evangelical and a con?

      Good start. But being a raving drunk idiot, giving death threats, vile swearing in public, arrogance supreme, driving drunk and a professional disturbance creator not to mention his friends being criminals are some factors to think about. So try it, OK ok.

      Dear ok,

      I don't hate Rob Ford; I just don't think he's a very good mayor, what with the behaviours he's exhibited like racism, public intoxication, fraternizing with criminals, using public resources for personal gain, etc. Not the kind of leader who I have any kind of confidence in. He also seems like a big bully.

      Many media outlets are running scared of the Rob Ford story. Even the Toronto Star is reluctant to allow the great-unwashed to post comments.

      I mention this because an earlier post of mine has not appeared. In that post, I described the facts of "Video Three" in which Ford ranted about killing someone, ripping out their throat and gouging out their eyes (as stated by him in Video Three).

      I also wondered aloud if a person who describes a killing like that - whether under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or not - can be trusted to walk the streets. If you get drunk or take drugs, and then threaten to kill somebody ... ummmm ... well ... what happens the next time you get drunk or take drugs?

      If the police knew who he was talking about, they might have grounds for charges. But they don't, so they don't (yet).

      I hope we can squeeze public urination on to Miranda's laundry list.

      I don't think one has to hate evangelical conservatives to have an issue with Rob Ford being mayor. That would be the reason for having an issue with Stephen Harper being PM. But conversely, I think one would need to have some extreme affinity for evangelical conservatives to not have an issue with Rob Ford being mayor.

      I don't think his background has anything to do with it. I had no idea he was an evangelist, yet I still think he's a major hazard and very untrustworthy. He appears to have very little control over his actions, including the binge drinking. When he does eventually leave office I really think they need to look carefully at the books. I have a feeling we may only be seeing the tip of the iceberg here.

      In recent days, I have seen/heard many conservatives argue that it's unfair to judge Rob Ford The Mayor in context with Rob Ford the Person. They say that it's perfectly okay to behave like Rod Ford The Person if Rob Ford The Mayor does his job properly.

      Oddly, this is in direct opposition to conservative practice and policy. As one example, conservatives thrive on attack ads that zero in on the character of their opponent, rather than his/her policies. They also state categorically that a primary conservative "value" is individual character.

      So how did conservatives end up with people of no character, like Ford, Duffy, Wallin, Brazeau and Wright (to name but a few)? Why were conservatives so contemptuous of Ignatieff whose "sin" was to work outside Canada? Why do they ridicule Trudeau for his family heritage?

      Where/what are real conservative "values"?

      People, people, nobody's taking issue with Rob Ford's politics, just his substance abuse and propensity for saying batshit crazy things.

      Rob Ford is an embarrassment to the country.
