Will the Foo Fighters bring Van Halen to Vancouver with them?

The Foo Fighters have been paying respects to some fine classic-rock acts on their current tour.

During their last gig, in Scotland on Tuesday, the Seattle guitar-rockers played snippets of Van Halen's "Eruption", Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust", and Big Country's "In a Big Country" during the band introduction.

And two days earlier in England they threw bits of War's "Low Rider", Van Halen's "I'm the One", and the Stooges' "No Fun" into the mix.

Van Halen seems to be the Foo Fighters' band of choice when it comes to offhand riff-robbing, because a coupla weeks ago in Chicago they played snippets of "Eruption", "You Really Got Me", "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love", and "Unchained".

But the best gig as far as Van Halen freaks are concerned must have been back in August at a St. Paul, Minnesota gig when--as well as bits of "I'm the One', the Foos played full versions of "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love" and "Panama" (before messing with the Stones' "Miss You").

Kinda makes you wonder what Eddie licks Dave Grohl might cop in Vancouver tomorrow night, eh? I wouldn't mind hearing a few of these, myself:

      See ya there!

... for the most part. But, I don't find them extra special in anyway.

Totally overrated band. They're only famous because there's basically nothing else out there and the affable-but-modestly-talented-at-best Dave Grohl has become the go-to talking head guy for EVERYTHING. Enough already.

      Well...
