White Rock beached whale photo picked as runner-up in European contest

On June 6, 2012, local photographer Martin Gregus Jr. captured a striking image of a beached humpback whale in White Rock. Sadly, the whale died soon after.

On a happier note, that photo, entitled "Final Performance", was selected as the runner-up in the Man and Nature category of this year's GDT European Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition. The photo contest is put on by the Society of German Nature Photographers.
