Select customers at a pre-opening event of the new Nordstrom high-end store in Vancouver will be shopping for a cause.

The high-end department store will donate all proceeds of ticket sales from 2,250 guests, who will be the first to shop at its Canadian flagship outlet at Granville and Georgia streets at a gala on Wednesday (September 16).

Nordstrom is donating $420,000 to the B.C. Children’s Hospital, B.C. Women’s Hospital and Health Centre, Covenant House Vancouver, and Vancouver Art Gallery.

The gala features a reception, runway fashion show at the Vancouver Art Gallery, and a party inside the 230,000 square-foot store, which opens to the public on Friday (September 18).

Nordstrom family members will be present at the pre-opening celebration. The luxury retailer started as a small shoe shop in Seattle. It was founded by John Nordstrom in 1901.

Nordstrom had lined-up other customer events, including an opening day beauty bash outside the store at Robson Street from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Friday. Nordstrom and the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation - BC/Yukon Region teamed up for this particular event.

Nordstrom’s Pacific Centre outlet in Vancouver is the upscale retailer’s third Canadian store.
