The good news is that local performing arts fans have been so eager to snap up tickets to an upcoming collaboration between two of Vancouver's most innovative and dynamic arts companies that the scheduled shows have been sold out.

The even better news is a third show has been added.

As you may already know, Kidd Pivot artistic director and choreographer Crystal Pite and Electric Company Theatre co-artistic director, writer, and performer Jonathon Young joined forces to create Betroffenheit, which premiered at the Panamania Arts and Culture Program at the Toronto 2015 Pan Am and Parapan Am Games.

Young explained that the work was based upon his grief after he lost his daughter and her two cousins in a cabin fire in the Shuswap in 2009.

Betroffenheit is a German word that refers to an all-consuming state of shock and trauma beyond description.

Pite described the work thusly: "Betroffenheit invokes the essence of this expression, articulating its personality through a system of movements that sustain tension between stasis and passage."

Tickets are no longer available for the performances scheduled on February 26 and 27 at the Vancouver Playhouse. However, a third show has been added on February 25 (8 p.m.) and is available for purchase online or by phone (604-801-6225).

If you're planning to attend, you might want to keep in mind that on February 23, DanceHouse, in partnership with SFU Woodward's, will present a free lecture, Speaking of Dance, which is designed to help DanceHouse audience members acquire a deeper understanding and appreciation of their dance presentations.

Here's a sneak peek to give you an idea of what the performance is like:
