Coastal Jazz, producer of the TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival, has just announced the launch of a new music initiative at Frankie’s Italian Kitchen & Bar.

Located downtown at 765 Beatty, Frankie's will present live jazz and blues continuously on weekends, with 10 bands scheduled in October and more to be announced for the upcoming months.

“The addition of Frankie’s to the jazz landscape will provide Vancouver with a full time club presenting jazz and blues music,” says Cory Weeds, who will oversee the artistic direction for the space. “A hub is something that has sorely been missed since The Cellar closed its doors almost two years ago.”

Performer schedule (all shows at 8 pm):

Oct. 8-10: Cory Weeds Quintet featuring David Hazeltine

Oct. 15: Poll Winners: A Tribute to Barney Kessel, Ray Brown & Shelly Manne

Oct. 16-17: Steve Kozak & his West Coast All-Stars

      Oct. 18: Cannery Row

      Oct. 22: Zapato Negro

Oct. 23-24: Bradley / McGillivray Blues Band

      Oct. 25: Blue Moon Marquee

      Oct. 29: Jaclyn Guillou

Reservations for Frankie's can be made at 778-727-0337 and www.coastaljazz.ca, and admission at the door.
