Over the past eight years, the Georgia Straight has woven itself into my identity.
So it is with mixed feelings that I awoke today—my last day as web editor and technology editor at the Straight .
On one hand, I’m going to miss working alongside the amazing staff of this alt-weekly newspaper. On the other, I’m excited about exploring new opportunities in media and communications.
Naturally, this day has me in a reflective mood.
Looking back, the feature stories that I enjoyed writing the most focused on controversial attempts to remove land from B.C. parks , First Nations’ treaty talks , long-distance hiking trails , gender issues , Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies , and outdoor programs for marginalized women and at-risk students .
However, judging by my most-read articles, you seemed to prefer blog posts about unfollowing people on Twitter , MP Wai Young and the birth of #CPCJesus , the Sea to Summit Trail , sandwich tokens , and marijuana being mailed to Christy Clark .
One thing I’ve loved about being a journalist is all the photo opportunities that come with the job.
So, as a parting gift, I offer you one last listicle.
Here’s 20 of my favourite photos taken during my time at the Straight .
