The conversation about gender inequality in the film industry has been heightened in Hollywood over the last while, with everything from Patricia Arquette's rousing Oscar acceptance speech to viral videos mocking how women are treated in Hollywood.

If you're interested in supporting women in film, Women in Film and Television Vancouver is rolling out their red carpet for their annual Martini Madness fundraising party.

Held on Tuesday (September 29) at the Butcher & Bullock (911 West Pender), it also serves as a kick-off to the Vancouver International Film Festival Industry conference (which runs from September 29 to October 3).

The theme of this year's WIFTV party celebrates historical filmmakers, including Alice Guy-Blaché, the first female director, and Hollywood star Mary Pickford from Toronto.

The party includes an auction, with an online auction site. Tickets are available in advance online ($25) or at the door ($30). (WIFTV members are free.)
