50 Shades of Grey-themed Christmas tree too sexy for Chicago

A Christmas-tree festival in Chicago got a little less jolly this year with the removal of a tree decorated with references to the popular erotic-novel series.

Organized by Navy Pier and event-design firm Ivan Carlson, the reportedly kid-friendly celebration featured 95 trees decorated with themes like Disney characters, monochromatic-colour schemes, well-known modern artists like Jackson Pollack and Roy Lichtenstein, and toys and puzzles.

Ivan Carlson creative director Gary Jackson said that the tree in question "was just based loosely on the book, and it was geared more toward the adults, thinking the children would never figure it out. But we decided it was a little on the risque side, so we redesigned it to a lime green, gray, black and silver theme."

This totally explains why my Story of O-themed tree was shot down.
