PETA uses naked human "turkey" to change minds about Thanksgiving

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) talked turkey to downtown residents Wednesday afternoon in an attempt to get them to change their minds about traditional Thanksgiving dinner.

Planted in front of an IGA supermarket at Burrard and Barclay streets, and using giant trussed-turkey models and a supine human equivalent, PETA volunteers handed out free packages of a commercial soy-based meat substitute called tofurkey in an attempt to get shoppers to consider alternatives to holiday meat-eating.
