Iron Maiden announces Tacoma date; Vancouverites should keep April open

Today Iron Maiden--one of the greatest heavy-metal bands of all time--announced that its much-anticipated Book of Souls World Tour will open in Florida on February 24, and include a stop in Tacoma, Washington, on April 11.

"Canadian fans please note that your dates will be announced very soon!" reads the announcement on the band's website, leading Vancouver Maiden-heads to ponder when exactly they'll be able to experience their earbustin' heroes in the flesh.

Since the final U.S. show is April 15 in L.A., and there's a two-week gap before the tour lands in New Zealand on April 29, there's a good chance we might see them in the last half of April some time. Mind you, back in August the band said Canadian dates will happen "in the first two weeks of April", so who knows for sure.

Of course, there's always the chance that Maiden could snub Vancity and only play shows in places like Toronto and Montreal, if that's all their whirlwind schedule allows.

But that would be an affront to our nation as a whole, and I don't think Eddie would allow it.
