FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9
Beatle: the Georgia Straight presents British rocker and former Beatle Ringo Starr (above) at the Queen E. Theatre, with an all-star band composed of Steve Lukather, Todd Rundgren, Gregg Rolie, Richard Page, Warren Ham, and Gregg Bissonette.
Bellow: Brooklyn Country-soul trio the Lone Bellow plays the Imperial, performing songs from its latest album Then Came the Morning.
Bloch: Alexandre Bloch conducts pianist Ingrid Fliter (above) and the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra in a program of music by Messiaen, Haydn, and Schubert at Chan Centre.
Battle: South Van Big Band and the Randers Big Band play a Battle of the Big Bands at Pat's Pub and Brewhouse.
Boo!: the Stanley Park Ghost Train (above) opens, featuring a 14-minute experience with lights, sounds, and live performers playing classic horror characters.
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10
Black: American rock band Black Lips (above) coheadlines the Rickshaw Theatre, with American indie-pop performer Ariel Pink.
Brown: American folk singer-songwriter Greg Brown plays the Rio Theatre.
Blueprint: Blueprint Events celebrates 18 years with #BP18YR, featuring EDM performances by Alesso + Audien, Project 46, Matoma Music, and DJ Timeline at the Coliseum.
Blue 'n' Green: the Vancouver Canucks, led by the Sedin twins (above). take on the Calgary Flames in National Hockey League action at Rogers Arena.
B.C.: The B.C. Lions take on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in Canadian Football League action at B.C. Place Stadium.
Boisterous: local garage-rock band the Enigmas plays the WISE Hall, with guests the Wasted Strays and Making Strangers.
Beautiful: Toronto folk-noir duo Scarlett Jane (above) plays the Fox Cabaret, touring in support of self-titled sophomore album.
Benefit: Art from the Attic at the Scandinavian Community Centre raises money for the Stephen Lewis Foundation's Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign, supporting African grandmothers raising children orphaned by AIDS.
Booze: Tonari Gumi's sake-tasting night at Coast Coal Harbour Hotel features over 40 varieties of sake and umeshu.
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 11
Blood: English folk-soul singer-songwriter Lianne La Havas (above) plays the Commodore, touring in support of new album Blood.
Braathen: the Kristian Braathen Quartet--featuring vocalist Laura Crema, pianist Miles Black, bassist Jodi Proznick, and drummer Braathen--plays Surrey's Northwood United Church.
Burlesque: Kitty Nights presents Octoburlesque!, a night of burlesque fun and games featuring Audrey Hipturn (above), Burgundy Brixx, Laya Lushious, Roma Antics, and the Purrrfessor.
Beethoven & Bartok: Friends of Chamber Music presents Czechoslovakia's Pavel Haas Quartet at the Vancouver Playhouse.
MONDAY, OCTOBER 12
Badass: legendary rock guitarist Slash plays the Queen Elizabeth Theatre with his current band, Slash featuring Myles Kennedy + the Conspirators.
