Ringo Starr will get by with a little help from his friends in Vancouver tonight
The Georgia Straight presents the world's most famous drummer, Ringo Starr, at the Queen E. Theatre tonight, and you know that can't be bad.
But his won't be the only recognizable face on stage.
Ringo's All-Starr Band also includes singer-guitarist-keyboardist Todd Rundgren, who you may know from such classy numbers as "Love is the Answer" and "I Saw the Light".
Ever since the days of Harrison and Lennon, Ringo has enjoyed the company of primo guitarists, and he continues that trend by having longtime Toto member and session ace Steve Lukather handling the six-strings. Lukather's world-class fretwork was a highlight when Ringo played the Hard Rock Casino Vancouver last year.
The band also features former members of Santana (keyboardist Gregg Rolie) and Mr. Mister (bassist Richard Page), so as well as songs by Rundgren and Toto, the setlist includes hits from those bands as well.
Slamming everything into place is drum god Gregg Bissonette, who used to man the kit for guitar master Joe Satriani.
Here's the setlist from last night's show at Victoria's Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre. I don't expect it'll be much different tonight.
