The sad news is that the cinema addict’s heaven otherwise known as Vancouver International Film Festival comes to a close today, with a gala screening of the Hank Williams biopic I Saw the Light and a wrap party.

The happy news is VIFF is providing audiences with a week-long transitional period before heading back to reality. VIFF Repeats, running from Saturday to Thursday (October 10 to 15) at Vancity Theatre, is possibly your last chance to catch some of the festival’s most popular films.

It's important to note that as these aren’t official festival screenings, viewers cannot use festival passes, ticket packs or vouchers.

VIFF Repeats kicks off with the Icelandic documentary Rams, and will include selections such as 100 Yen Love, I Am Nojoom, Age 10 and Divorced, The Lobster, Painted Land: In Search of the Group of Seven, The Royal Tailor, Landfill Harmonic, and Home Care. There’s a healthy dose of Canadian selections in the mix as well, including Jumbo Wild and No Men Beyond This Point.

In addition to VIFF Repeats, many festival selections will have regular theatrical runs over the course of the year. Some are already underway, including Paul GrossHyena Road, or will open in a few weeks, such as Deepa Mehta’s Beeba Boys.

Other forthcoming screenings at Vancity Theatre include Eadweard, The Forbidden Room, The Assassin, Hadwin's Judgement, Mavis!, James White, Haida Gwaii: On the Edge of the World, and Fractured Land

And that’s not all: VIFF is also planning to hold a special screening of the #mustseebc winner, Jordan Patterson’s documentary Tricks on the Dead: The Story of the Chinese Labour Corps in WWI, in the new year in coordination with the filmmaker. Stay tuned for details to be announced.
