Finalists for the 2015 City of Vancouver Book Award revealed

      The four finalists for this year’s City of Vancouver Book Award were announced this morning. The selections are the work of a jury that includes Indian Summer Festival artistic director Sirish Rao, Ricepaper magazine editor Anna Ling Kaye, and novelist and librarian Zoe Leigh Peterson.

      And the nominees are:

      • Live at the Commodore by Aaron Chapman (Arsenal Pulp Press)
      • The Outer Harbour by Wayde Compton (Arsenal Pulp Press)
      • Hastings-Sunrise by Bren Simmers (Nightwood Editions)
      • Mr. Got to Go, Where Are You? by Lois Simmie and Cynthia Nugent (Red Deer Press)

      The prize, which was established in 1989, recognizes “authors of excellence of any genre who contribute to the appreciation and understanding of Vancouver's history, unique character, or the achievements of its residents”, according to the City of Vancouver’s website. It carries a $3,000 award with it. 

      The winner will be revealed on November 12 as part of the Mayor’s Arts Awards ceremony, to be held at the Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre.
