Metro Vancouver rings in a rocking new year

Where will you be when the clock strikes midnight tomorrow (December 31)? If you're lucky, you'll be shaking your booty at one of these events.

The Georgia Straight presents a glitz and glamour-filled gala with musicians like saxophonist Paul Choisil and Latin band Jany & Jorge, while Rich Hope & His Evil Doers perform a the WISE Hall alongside DJ Thee Swingin' Creeper. Colleen Rennison and the Ballantynes perform at the Hotel Vancouver and Elvis impersonators take the stage at Rockin' New Year's Eve With Ultimate Elvis. Big John Bates rocks the night away at the Railway Club, while things get a little more bluesy at Edgewater Casino's New Year's Eve Blues Power Spectacular.

There's also some stellar tunes going on at shows by Steel Panther, the Go-Go's, Ten Souljers, Our Lady Peace, the Hot Mammas and the Continentals, the Boom Booms and Chin Injeti, and members of Mother Mother, Said the Whale, and Yukon Blonde.

If you've got the little ones in tow tomorrow, there's some family-friendly fun going on at the Robson Square Ice Rink, including sugar cookies, live music, an early countdown, and, of course ice skating.

Like your New Year's with a dash of Bollywood? Humari Sanskriti presents New Year Party Shubh Aagman 2014, which features dancers, singing, DJ music and dancing.

Finally, Vancouver Communities in Solidarity With Cuba sponsors Cuban New Year's Eve, an evening in celebration of the new year and of 55 years of revolution in Cuba.
