Hockey teams rarely disclose details of day-to-day injuries for fear of giving their opponents an advantage.

But today, Canucks goalie Roberto Luongo revealed that his December 22 injury came on a first-period shot by Jets forward Evander Kane as he was coming down the wing.

"I tried to stay in the game for a few more minutes and then kept feeling it during the play," Luongo told reporters. "I felt it again on another shot. Before it got any worse, I decided to get off.”

He practised with his teammates today for the first time since his lower-body injury put him out of the lineup.

"I'm feeling good," Luongo said. "Everything is progressing really well right now."

He didn't dress for tonight's game against the Tampa Bay Lightning at Rogers Arena.

Luongo revealed that he has been "skating for a few days" with Canucks goaltending coach Rollie Melanson.

The team hasn't said when Luongo will be back between the pipes.
