It's official: Rob Ford is running for the top spot in Toronto city politics one more time.

Today (January 2), the current mayor of Hogtown stopped in at the election services office at Toronto’s City Hall to hand in his nomination papers for his second mayoral run, arriving even before the office opened at 8:30 a.m.

Eleven candidates have already filed nomination papers, including marijuana activist Matt Mernagh.

The electoral office will accept nominations for the position until September 12.

With his registration now official, Ford can start fundraising and spending money on his campaign; in Toronto, a mayoral candidate can spend up to $1,305,066.65 during the campaign period.

Ford first ran for mayor in 2010, promising to stop the gravy train at city hall and reign in spending.

The planned slogan for his 2014 run is “Ford more years.”

“I’ve got the strongest track record," Ford later told reporters at City Hall. "I’ve been the best mayor that this city’s ever had. My record speaks for itself."

Torontonians head to the polls on October 27.

Alternate campaign slogan: Voters! If you come across a Ford in the road, whatever you do - DON'T TAKE IT!!

He certainly is on record for cutting back on the funding for street tree pruning, which was meant to lessen the hazard of branches endangering power lines. That's the problem with a dullard like Ford, all he does is cut back programme funding, which keeps his redneck, suburban supporters happy.

I hope he is completely taken apart in the process of all candidates meetings and debates. I hope his opponents calmly and thoroughly dismantle his bullshit and leave him gasping and speechless. Unfortunately I think the best I can realistically hope for is that he loses. I'm so fucking cynical now that I would not be shocked to see the piece of shit win!

Ford will win for the same reason that Harper will win in the following year - because voters are mostly stupid, and the candidates know how to do stupid people. Bend over and grin while I insert my bobble head.
