David Lynch looks ready to reboot Twin Peaks

It’s a good day if you love a damn fine cup of coffee, preferably served with a fresh slice of cherry pie.

And if you eat six out of seven dinners per week at the Black Lodge on Kingsway. And if the only thing you’ve ever wanted out of life is private lessons from Audrey Horne on how to tie a cherry stem into a bow with nothing but your tongue.

The late Christmas present in question is that David Lynch has hinted he’s looking to bring Twin Peaks back to the small screen. The show—centred around the death of high-school prom queen Laura Palmer—was a genuine cultural phenomenon when it was launched in 1990. Twin Peaks ran for two seasons, garnering 14 Emmy nominations and introducing mainstream America to Lynch’s famously warped take on small-town U.S.A.

This week has brought the following casting-call announcement: “TWIN PEAKS PROMO. Directed by David Lynch. Shoots in Los Angeles on Tuesday, January 7, 2014. Prob a 6 hour or less day. Rate is 150/8. You must live in LA to submit. I don’t think SAG has jurisdiction on this, so SAG and NON can submit. I have called SAG to double check this and I am awaiting a call back to confirm.”

In case you’ve got time to get to YVR this afternoon and buy a ticket to Los Angeles, casting is looking for a “HOT Caucasian girl – BRUNETTE OR REDHEADS ONLY to play waitress. Age 18-27. MUST have an amazing body. Busty, very period looking face.”
Presumably, the ability to pour a damn fine cup of coffee is also an asset.

Twin Peaks was cancelled after its second season due to low ratings. It has since become a frequently cited cult-fave of indie bands, filmmakers, artists, and Main Street denizens who weren’t alive when it first aired.
