The Georgia Straight proudly sponsors Nirbhaya

From November 3 to 14, the Cultch and Diwali Fest present Nirbhaya at the York Theatre (639 Commercial Drive).

Written and directed by Yaël Farber, Nirbhaya is based on real-life experiences and the violent incident that shocked Delhi and the world.

The play uses an array of personal testimonies to crack open the cone of silence that surrounds women whose lives have been shattered by violence.

Nirbhaya premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August 2013, where it won the coveted Amnesty International Freedom of Expression Award.

For shows on November 4, 8, and 10, audience members can enjoy a lively post-show Q&A session.

Tickets for Nirbhaya start at $20 and can be bought online in advance.
