Homeless in Vancouver: Ouch, that looks painful

      Bet I’ve ridden by this lattice-topped fence at least 2,000 times in the past nine years.

      Yet I have no recollection what it looked like last week.

      Scary when you think about how little you think about some things.

      I did notice this today. I guess it’s some variety of ivy, a clinging vine, a very handsome pest.

      It’s quite impervious to harm but the same can’t be said for anything that ivy touches; that’s something I have noticed over the years.

      When you take ivy off a wall you have to rip it off, and it leaves a scar.

      This ivy is past clinging. It’s in “boa constrictor” mode.

      You can see in the top photo that it’s choking the life out of part of the wooden lattice; you can clearly see it being twisted out of shape.

      Fortunately not all wood vines are quite so clingy.
