On November 11, Chor Leoni Men's Choir presents Brothers in Arms at the West Vancouver United Church (2062 Esquimalt Ave, West Vancouver) and St. Andrew's-Wesley United Church (1012 Nelson).

As part of its 23rd annual Remembrance Day concerts, the local 60-voice choir will explore the calamitous and uniting effects of war on families through music that involves a variety of genres.

Program highlights include the a cappella version of Lee Hoiby’s Last Letter Home, Carl Orff’s Sunt lacrimae rerum, Ken Cormier’s arrangement of Dire Straits’ Brothers in Arms, and Ēriks Ešenvalds’ setting of Leonard Cohen’s poetry.

Works by Moses Hogan and Piotr Janczak round out the program, with rising Canadian soprano Laura Widgett joining the ensemble in works by Benjamin May and Erick Lichte.

Following Chor Leoni tradition, the concert concludes with The Last Post and the communal singing of Rupert Lang’s Kontakion.

Tickets for Brothers in Arms range from $10 to $40 and are available online in advance.
