Manning Park enjoys organic snow

Ski hills across the province are celebrating the arrival of snow on their slopes over the past few days.

It's raised hopes that 2015–16 won't be a repeat of last year's dreadful winter sports season caused by unusually warm weather.

This week, one of the more cheery announcements came from Manning Park Resort, which has reported about a foot of snow at the bottom of its chairlifts.

"As Manning is at a higher elevation, we often receive colder temperatures and dryer snow," spoksperson Robyn Barker wrote. "And it is all-natural, organic snow! No snow-makers necessary."

Meanwhile, AccuWeather.com has predicted more of the white stuff on local ski hills.

"Compared to last winter, there will be more snow across the coastal mountains of western British Columbia, which includes the Whistler Blackcomb ski resort, host of the 2010 Winter Olympics," the site stated.
