UFC not confirming return to Vancouver in 2014

An anonymously sourced post on MMASucka has got MMA fans talking about the Ultimate Fighting Championship's possible return to Vancouver this year. According to the blog, the UFC is planning an event at Rogers Arena for June 14.

However, UFC officials declined this week to tell the Province whether the rumours are true or false. "We haven’t announced any of the Canadian dates on our schedule," UFC communications manager Carolyn Blakely told the newspaper, noting such an announcement could come later in the month.

The world's largest MMA promotion first touched down in Vancouver with UFC 115 on June 12, 2010. In the main event, former middleweight champion Rich "Ace" Franklin knocked out former light heavyweight champion Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell, ending the latter's MMA career.

At UFC 131 on June 11, 2011, future heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos took a unanimous decision over former UFC interim heavyweight champion Shane Carwin in the headlining match. Both pay-per-view events took place at Rogers Arena.

Will a third UFC event in Vancouver feature headliners of the same calibre? We'll just have to wait and see.
