Four years ago: Olympic protesters marched in Vancouver (photos)

As sports fans, the media, and nationalists turn their attention to Sochi, Russia, and the 2014 Winter Olympics, it's worth taking a moment to remember Vancouver's own Games. Four years ago—completing Vancouver's quest to be as world class as Albertville, Lillehammer, Turin, and Calgary—the city hosted the 2010 Winter Olympics.

The international sporting event brought athletes, tourists, and a lot of security personnel to town. It also provided an opportunity for protesters to get their messages out.

From opening ceremony to closing ceremony, anti-Olympic activists took to Vancouver's streets in support of social housing and aboriginal rights, and in opposition to freeway expansion and the tar sands, among other issues.
