The Hard Rock Casino Vancouver has just announced that it's bringing the Steve Miller Band to town on April 12, which is good news for anyone with a hankering for old-school guitar-rock.

According to the most recent setlist available, Miller is concentrating on the two albums that pretty well ruled rock radio back in the day: Fly Like an Eagle (1976) and Book of Dreams ('77).

The tunes he's been playing from those discs include "Jungle Love", "Take the Money and Run", "Dance, Dance, Dance", "Wild Mountain Honey", "Fly Like an Eagle", "Jet Airliner", "Rock 'n Me", "Swingtown", and "Serenade".

And for those who were even into him back in '73, he's offering up his first major hit, "The Joker". Wit-woooooooo. (That's that cool guitar noise Miller makes after explaining that some people call him Maurice--Wit-woooooooo--'cause he speaks of the pompitous of love. Whatever that is.)

Blues fans should also note the SMB's current set includes Bobby "Blue" Bland's "Further On the Road", Otis Rush's "All Your Love", and the Mike Bloomfield/Buddy Miles composition "Texas".

From the looks of this clip from last year, Miller's still got it goin' on in the guitar-playing department.

Tickets for the show go on sale this Thursday at 10 am at Ticketmaster.
