The Georgia Straight proudly sponsors Festive Cantatas: Praetorius Christmas Vespers

On December 20, 3 pm, Festive Cantatas: Praetorius Christmas Vespers hits the Chan Shun Concert Hall (6265 Crescent Road, UBC).

In partnership with the Portland Baroque Orchestra, Early Music Guild of Seattle, and Early Music Society of the Islands, Early Music Vancouver presents a Christmas Vespers service as it might have been heard in 17th-century Germany.

Conductor David Fallis will direct an ensemble of more than 50 musicians in a performance of works from throughout Michael Praetorius's compositional career. The program will also feature favourite and familiar early Christmas carols.

Early Music Vancouver artistic director Matthew White describes the concert as a "warm, inclusive, and varied event that finely balances the participation of professionals, amaeturs, and the audience."
