Obama Satan cut from Bible flick

In a move that's sure to alienate the film's intended audience of Tea Partiers, fundies, and Socialist Kenyan Muslim-haters, the producers of soon-to-be-released film Son of God have removed President Barackzebub Obama from their crazy-ass religious epic.

"We cast Satan out. It gives me great pleasure to tell you that the devil is on the cutting-room floor," said producer-star Roma Downey, talking to the Hollywood Reporter about the decision to cut Moroccan actor Mohamen Mehdi Ouazanni from the truncated theatrical version of the 10-part miniseries, The Bible.

When originally shown on the History Channel last year, a small but vocal group of viewers conventionally known as "idiots" were alarmed by the resemblance between Ouazanni—who plays Satan—and the sitting president of the United States.

"Suddenly the media went nuts," continued Downey. "The next day, when I was sure everyone would only be talking about Jesus, they were talking about Satan instead."

With the re-edited Son of God—which comes to Vancouver's multiplexes on February 28—Downey hopes to remove any distractions and put the focus of the project back where it belongs; on squeezing even more profit out of the gospel she loudly and tediously purports to love.
