Take a selfie on West 4th Avenue and you just might win a pair of skis

Several years ago, I remember walking along West 4th Avenue just east of Burrard Street and coming across a huge gondola cabin.

Three Whistler Blackcomb employees had towed it across the country to raise awareness about then soon-to-open Peak 2 Peak Gondola.

This Saturday (December 5), Tourism Whistler will be in the same block with a different promotion.

They'll have the bus stop in front of the Esso station wrapped to appear like a chairlift.

From 10 a.m. to noon, the first 50 people who take a seat, snap a selfie, and post it to social media with the #chairliftselfie hashtag will win a free gift bag. This will include Whistler lift tickets.

One of the bags will have a voucher to win skis from Comor, which has a store in the block.

Comor Kitsilano and Comor Burnaby also have Tourism Whistler boxes on their premises to enter a contest with more than $10,000 worth of prizes.

Among the goodies are seven nights accommodation at the Summit Lodge Boutique Hotel, a candle-lit fondue dinner for two at the Crystal Hut, and a five-course tasting menu for two at the Bearfoot Bistro.

Whistler Blackcomb is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. For more on that, check out the video below.
