The Reptile Guy Rescue and Education Centre in Mission is closed today after a visit from the B.C. SPCA.

CKNW Radio has quoted B.C. SPCA chief prevention and enforcement officer Marcie Moriary citing problems that include dehydration, lack of water, lack of adequate and appropriate food, and lack of adequate space for some creatures, as well as insufficient lighting.

In a message on Facebook, Hopcraft apologized for his business being closed. He attributed it to "another warrent" being served by the SPCA.

"This is number 4 since we opened," Hopcroft declared this morning. "We have not finished our morning foods and waters and they are now going to write us up for not providing food and water to our animals. They don't seem to understand that we are a rescue so when they see an animal that we got in sick, we are the ones that get on trouble for it being sick. Sorry for any inconvenience."
