To coincide with International Women’s Day, Uva Wine Bar (900 Seymour) is hosting an event on March 8 that celebrates women working in Vancouver’s hospitality industry. “Guts and Glory” will run from 1 to 4 p.m. and include networking opportunities, guest speakers, as well as food and beverages.

“We’re not only celebrating International Women’s Day at this event but championing those who inspire us,” Lauren Mote, event organizer and Uva bar manager, stated in a news release. “It’s time to make new friends, reconnect with old ones, and be inspired to achieve your own idea of greatness. It dovetails perfectly with the theme of International Women’s Day in 2014, which is ‘Inspiring Change’.”

The event is open to all women working in the hospitality industry, including chefs, sommeliers, bartenders, restaurant staff, business owners and managers, brewers and distillers, as well as women working in food and beverage media, public relations, marketing, and designing.

"Guts and Glory" is a free event, but spots are limited and attendees must RSVP online in advance. In addition, donations will be collected for the Canadian Breast Cancert Foundation.
