Homeless in Vancouver: Pretty old pinko

    1 of 2 2 of 2

An anonymous Vancouver street artist is giving former KGB boss and current Russian president Vladimir Putin some support—38DDs-worth?

The small, hot-pink stencil graffiti is in the lane on the east side of Cambie Street around the corner from 18th Avenue. It probably dates back to the start of the Sochi Winter Olympics on February 7.

It’s still topical though. The Olympics are only half-over and on a break. In the intermission, Vladi has taken time out to deploy an estimated 25,000 troops into the neighbouring region of Crimea in an obvious attempt to occupy, lift and separate the strategic peninsula from the Ukraine.

“Horrors of occupation in the Crimea!”

The crimes of the illegal occupation of Ukrainian territory have visibly included the taking of a lot of selfies with the invading soldiers.

The Winter Paralympic Games in Sochi begin later this week on March 7. Canada’s athletes will be going but not our politicians.

Canadian government officials say they’re staying home due to the ongoing crisis in the Ukraine. That’s fine by me. When’s the last time someone from the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development actually medalled at the Olympics?

The Sochi 2014 Paralympic Winter Games wrap up on March 16. The day after that I wouldn’t want to be in the Ukraine on a bet, assuming Mother Russia can wait that long—you go girl!
