It's (kind of) snowing in Vancouver!

While most Canadians take snowy December days for granted, us out here on the West Coast get unreasonably excited at the faintest hint of snow.

To that end, it's kind of, sort of, maybe trying to snow in Kitsilano right now.

Environment Canada has issued a weather alert as well, saying many parts of Metro Vancouver may see snow this morning as a front moves in from the Pacific. Inland Vancouver Island, Howe Sound and Whistler are expected to receive as much as five to 10 centimetres of snow in the next day.

We expect this alley to transform into a magical winter wonderland by 5 p.m.

In need of the real deal plus some Christmas cheer? Head on up to Whistler Blackcomb on Saturday (December 19) where you can hit the slopes with Kris Kringle himself.

UPDATE (12 p.m.): Snow has turned into icy rain outside our office. But we did spot a most unusual meteorological phenomenon in the alley: the rare rainbow ring.
